Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) Course

The AFO Course is a two-day training program and is designed to meet the needs of those working in public and semipublic recreational pool or water park facilities. The AFO Course offers unique discussions on risk management, pool management, training in proper water chemistry and water chemistry challenges/solutions. Upon successful completion of the AFO Course and open book exam, participants will be certified for 5 years by the National Certification Board in coordination with the National Recreation and Park Association.

$295 includes instruction, all certification fees, course text, exam fees and light snacks. CEM Sales and Service will be generously catering lunch on Saturday of each course.

Renewal: $119 Exam Only, must hold "current" AFO certificate.

Water Testing: May 13 & 14, 9:00am - 4:00pm

The  American Red Cross Lifeguard training  course has both in-water and classroom requirements. Participants must be at least 15 years old and able to complete the perquisite required skills. Upon successful class completion participants will have a two year certification in Lifeguard Training and CPR-PR. 

Required Skills Test:
Prior to class participation all candidates must complete a swimming test which includes:  a 300 yard continuous swim (in this order: 100 yards of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing propellant kick, rhythmic breathing can be performed to either the front or side, 100 yds. of breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence, 100 yds. of either front crawl or breast stroke), a 20 yard swim to a deep water, 10 lb brick retrieval and return to start in 1 minute 40 seconds and  2 minutes of treading water.  Participants will be given recovery time between each required skill.   

Stapleton residents can register via their Active Net account, non residents may fill out the registration form and return.
