Denver Metro and Western Slope Community Encouraged to Donate
Non-Perishable Food Items
WHAT: Bellco Credit Union, a member-owned
nonprofit credit union with more 16 branches along the Denver Metro Area
and Western Slope, is partnering with Food Bank of the Rockies to
collect non-perishable food donations. As a result of the current
economy challenges, food bank shelves are going bare. In the past few
months, Food Bank of the Rockies has seen an approximate 20 - 30 percent
increase in the number of people needing food from its partner agencies.
Examples of items that make great donations include tuna, ham, beef
stew, chili, baked beans, soup, fruit, vegetables, peanut butter, jelly
and pasta. Non-glass containers are preferred.
All food items collected by Bellco branches will be donated to Food Bank
of the Rockies and Western Slope Food Bank of the Rockies, except for
Bellco's Arvada branch, which will donate its collected items to the
Arvada Food Bank due to an ongoing partnership.
WHEN: Non-perishable food items may be donated at Bellco
Credit Union branches until July 31, 2009.
WHERE: Bellco Credit Union branches are located in Aurora,
Centennial, Denver, Englewood, Glendale, Grand Junction, Lakewood,
Littleton, Meeker, Northglenn, Parker, Westminster and Wheat Ridge. A
full list of branch locations, including hours of operation and contact
information, can be found at www.bellco.org.
WHAT ELSE: In its 73 years of business, Bellco has continued to
actively support the community, donating funds and employee volunteer
hours to many health and family-related causes. To learn about Bellco's
